This Is OUR WORLD

The inaugural Dublin Festival of Fashion, Ireland’s largest fashion event to date, set the capital alight from Friday October 1st till Sunday October 3rd. Hosted by Dublin City BID (Business Improvement District), The Dublin Festival of Fashion transformed the city’s leading shopping districts into a haven of fashion shows, styling workshops with top Irish and international professionals as well as the best retail discounts and special promotions were offered in the heart of Dublin.

One of the festival’s top attractions was a series of fashion shows taking place in the Ilac Center and St. Stephen’s Green Shopping Center. Daily shows translating the season’s key trends featured everything from street fashion to high end to retro and vintage, all selected from the retailers of Dublin city. The Dublin Festival of Fashion HQ, which spring to life in the old Habitat building on College Green, featured a pop-up Barnardos vintage clothing and Bridal shop, fashion exhibition by Griffith College Students and a series of Rimmel beauty masterclasses with top celebrity makeup artists Ken Boylan and Sarah Jane Wai O’Flynn.

However, my personal favourite was the edgy fashion show on Saturday October 2nd at the Good Bits Club featuring clothing from extremely girlie and fun Kling and environmentally friendly Skunfunk from Spain.  And when I say “environmentally friendly” I don’t mean just a brand that claims they are environmentally friendly because of not using as much plastic or paper as other companies. Skunkfunk team states:”This is OUR WORLD and we are concerned about it.” They actually use sustainable organic and recycled materials to produce their clothing that is a great turn on for me. Not to mention that their clothing is fresh, funky, and over all just cool.
