Something I’m thinking about...

Have you ever wondered why you get so easily sidetracked from completion of tasks that would be beneficial to you and would contribute to achieving your goals and fulfilling your mission? I guess, if you have never even thought of having a mission and goals, you also wouldn’t think about this, but I believe that God has given all of us a mission, and we are given talents and abilities to fulfill it. Our ultimate goal is to love God more than anybody and other people as ourselves,  and it can be done through any profession, trade or activity possible, as long as your talents and abilities are used. However, too often we wander off doing other things that at the end of the day leave us empty and feeling unhappy because we haven’t achieved anything.

John Ortberg in his book “When The Game Is Over Everything Goes Back In The Box” tells us that every person has a mission and a “shadow mission”. Our shadow mission is the stuff that attracts us the most when we get don’t concentrate on our goals. Lets say, my goal is to maintain an up to date blog that others and I can benefit from in any way. To do that, I have to put my time and effort in it, but sometimes I would rather like to watch movies. Watching movies is my “shadow mission” that distracts me from my real goals. This is just an example because, unfortunately, sometimes our “shadow missions” are more destructing and depleting. And, I guess, what I’m trying to say is that if we want to achieve our goals, it is important to realize your “shadow mission” in order to be more productive and alert next time you feel the temptation to get sidetracked.

The fact that I’m writing this does not mean I have it down. I am learning, and I hope that sharing this would be also beneficial to someone else :)

hair just long and wild

I hope everybody had a great 4th of July!!

For a while now (it’s taking me too long!!), I’ve been reading a book by John Ortberg called “When The Game Is Over It All Goes Back In The Box", and every time I open it, I can learn something that is so true and obviously correct but at the same time new for me. It always inspires me to grow and stretch my character. Soon I’ll do a longer post about some of my realizations, but for today I would like to just share this little quote: “Where proof is possible, faith is impossible.” Challenge accepted.

And here is my outfit from Sunday July 3rd.

PLACE TO BE / NYC, NY

About a week ago my husband and I visited friends in NYC. All I can say is that Williamsburg is the place to be, and I had too much fun to take more pictures, but here are some and I hope they can inspire you in some way!

If you are planning on visiting NYC for the first time I can see how Manhattan with it’s nonstop business and overwhelming amounts of tourists can seem attractive, but, believe me, you want to go to Williamsburg. Countless choices of restaurants and bars, vintage shopping and people watching is what Williamsburg is about.

If you’re looking for a place to have brunch, I suggest Juliette. We really enjoyed the rooftop  and  delicious  contemporary french cuisine.

Live music, artists, short movies, vintage clothing and housewares, and food trucks all were a part of the Live Arts Festival presented by CTOWN art party. I had an opportunity to attend this event on Sunday, and believe me, I did not regret going one bit. Events like this usually inspire me to do something more on my own, and contribute to the artist and wanna-be (that would be me ;) ) community. I wish I had captured more of all the awesomeness seen there, but this is what i’ve got.

Big Parade / OBERLIN, OH

Oberlin is definitely one of my favorite towns in Ohio. Due to the active and caring community living in Oberlin it has a very pleasant vibe. People there care about sustainable environment, education, art, and culture. Cafes serve food prepared from produce supplied by local farmers. Community events are fun and attended by young and old, and here are some pictures from an event called Big Parade that I had an opportunity to attend on Saturday.

I like taking pictures of bikes, but if it’s a parade bike - even better! :)

And here is the outfit I was wearing.

Sunglasses, dress - Urban Outfitters

Leather jacket - old

Lately I’ve been in love with lace and leather combination.

And here is what I call my "dingy team”. Whenever I feel my outfit is too cute, these items instantly make it more dingy and not overdone looking.

Does it mean I cannot go there?

For some reason the sun and warm weather are taking very long time to finally reach Ohio. Bad side - everybody is sick of being cold all the time, bright side - I get to wear my faux fur. This is just a staple outfit that I wear all the time because American Apparel disco pants are incredibly comfortable, and as I said, I like my fur. KLING cardigan is also an interesting replacement for an actual fur coat.
