Film Night

This short film, actually made by Lucas Guadagnino to promote The Luxury Collection Resorts & Hotels, has come probably the closest to what I expect from a fashion film than any other. It has a very intriguing plot and kudos to Heidi Bivens and Nico Guillis for perfectly executed styling.

And how gorgeous is Agyness Deyn? Another push for me to get that platinum blond hair.

Givenchy skirt / DIY

DIY inspired by Givenchy skirt. I fell in love with this skirt as soon as I saw it, but I knew that my version would be not as dressy just so I can wear it more. What I like about DIY projects is that not only you save $273819236, but it is also more consumption conscious, since one is giving some old garments their second life. Come spring, I might make another, little more dressy version. And I’ll definitely post more detailed pictures of this skirt when I actually wear it out.

UPDATE: Thanks to those who helped me realize, I should have explained this project a little more detailed. I cut off the top of dress, making it a tube skirt. Then I sew on each end of a chain to the middle of the front and back of the skirt. Tied a little knot on the front bottom (in the middle) to make it a little shorter in front and voi-la! I hope this helps :)

 Chokers and leather are definitely pretty big trends right now, but I can totally see how it will be a timeless staple for me. I just love the rawness of the idea behind a choker, and the always-superior material that leather is. We all have some outfits, that we just go back to again and again because they reflect us the best. This is probably one of those outfits for me.

So why am I sharing this picture of me skydiving two years ago? Not to show off my awesome onsie obviously! As January is quickly approaching the end, we have already spent almost a whole month in this new year. Many people had set goals and resolutions for this year, but quite as many just have been talking about how excited they are about what the new year is going to bring them. This made me think and come to a very obvious and maybe not even worth sharing conclusion - the new year is not going to bring anything for anybody! The new year is just a time guideline so we all can make plans with each other and avoid misunderstandings. The thing is that we have to do something ourselves to make this year special, more successful, more enjoyable! What I’m going to say is going to sound super corny, but we have to jump out of that plane to enjoy the dive! We all have talents and abilities that we know are there, but we are not developing and using them. If you want to make this year amazing, you’ll have to apply that hidden talent of yours and see all the new opportunities that arise from that! And I promise, the new year is going to be full of exhilarating surprises.

PS. Sorry for not posting as often as I should lately. I’m taking a super intensive Spanish course in college, and that just takes up most of my time, aside from work. The good news is that it’s only eight weeks. I’ve been in the course for 2 weeks, 6 more to go. After that, back to normal!



PPS. Also, I have not forgotten about posting fashion films. I wanted to post one yesterday, but I couldn’t find the embed code for it. Dumb reason, I know. But I shared a link for it on my facebook page if you want to check it out. It’s a short black and white fashion film featuring Wayne Spring/Summer 2012 collection highlighting the collaboration with painter Benjamin Degen and the idea of movement. As I also stated on facebook, I just love the clean lines, leather garments, and one color dressing for this spring.

Pink Dreams and Finders Keepers

This outfit is not very typical for me because I usually don’t wear pink, but, you know, sometimes I want to be a girl too. Also because of my height I often could not pull off long tops/super short dresses, they were always just a couple inches too short. Now I have discovered that those couple inches can be added by wearing a slip underneath. And I think it gives the outfit a little extra detailing as well. To give the slip an asymmetric look, I wore a belt and pulled it up a little in some places.

Also I am super excited to tell you that I just booked a flight to San Francisco!! I’ll be there February 22nd-26th so please let me know if you know of some fashion, blogger etc events I could attend! I would really appreciate that.

To continue on this dreamy note, I want to tell you about the Australian label Finders Keepers. I have totally fallen in love with their feminine, yet simple enough cuts and spring-perfect colors. And the best part is that UNESTABLISH now carries Finders Keepers, and it just happens to be that the giveaway from UNESTABLISH on my blog is still on. Spring is just around the corner, I’m so tempted to give in and get those shorts and the white body-con dress.

Choker / DIY

 I don’t know how it is for you but I always think of DIYs when I suddenly just need something right away. For example, this morning I was getting dressed, and nothing just looked right without a chocker. Then as I picked up a dress that I had just gotten from dry-cleaning, I noticed that the hangers they give away were not very sturdy... the rest of the story you can now see above.

How has this year been for you so far? How is it going with your New Year’s resolutions?

I’ve been very busy because I’m taking classes again full time. But you know what? I’m really excited about it because one of the classes I’m taking is journalism so I’m expecting this blog to improve. This will be a year of excellence.

Beach - what is your favorite place in the world? 

Dress - Maybe you have noticed that I don’t wear a lot of accessories. For me it’s more about finding that one simple yet unique piece that perfectly compliments the outfit, not overwhelms it. This time it is my new gold ear cuff. I hope you like it.

Also I’m thinking about coloring my hair platinum blond… what do you think?

Fashion Film Night

I present to you Muclair’s SS11 fashion film
directed by Whitney Mallet. I know, I know… I wish I had seen it when it actually was
SS11 as well, but let’s stop crying and just draw the most inspiration we
can! As a complement to the traditional fashion show and
fashion photography, the moving image has expanded the ways in which designers
can reflect and communicate the mood of a collection. Designers working
with fashion film pay tribute to the creative freedom of the medium which
offers an opportunity to give their collections a conceptual framework that
goes beyond the clothes themselves. Thus the framework is what can be
carried over from season to season allowing us to enjoy this film even when the
season is over. And I’m pretty sure we’ll still see many of similar designs to these during SS12 anyway.

Beach - movie theater. The other day Alejandro and I went to see “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”. All I can say, in spite of some graphic scenes I could have done without, this is a truly brilliant movie. I saw the Swedish version long time ago, and absolutely loved it so I was a bit skeptical of the American interpretation. Nevertheless, the awesome shots and detailed dialog was a very pleasant surprise. I did notice that there were many differences between the two versions, but I have not read the book so I was wondering if somebody that read the book could tell me which one was closer to the original story?

Dress - The more I wear them the more I like my ‘golden tip’ boots. You can check out the DIY for these here.
