It’s going to be a good year...

Since this is probably the last post of this year I could talk about the year that has passed, but I choose to talk about the one that’s coming up. I feel that God has a lot of good things in store for us, and it just makes me so excited and inspired to start big and think about new ideas.

For a while now I’ve been very passionate and inspired by short (often fashion) films. It is my dream that one day I could make my own fashion film, but until then I have decided that short and inspiring (mostly fashion) films from various sources will be a definite part of my blog. I hope you enjoy it, and maybe you can share your films with me if you would like me to post them on here! :)

The first film called Lake is made by photographer and filmmaker Pierre Debusschere in collaboration with  French actress Isild Le Besco. Styled by talented Robbie Spenser.

Sounds of the Woods is Nadinoo A/W 2011 fashion film directed by the amazing fashion blogger from WishWishWish Carrie Harwood. Designs and styling by Nadia Izruna, model - Rosalind Jana.

I am also very happy to announce that in January I am going to host my first give-away, and it’s going to be from the absolutely awesome fashion boutique UNESTABLISH. They carry brands like Pink Mink, Free People, Pauline.Ning, Evil Twin, and For Love & Lemons just to name a few. So I think it’s going to be a good one! Stay tuned!

Happy New Year, my wonderful readers! I appreciate every one of you, and wish you many blessings in 2012!!

PS. If you want to start the New Year with some new clothes, I have a coupon code from Romwe.com for you. Shop on January 1st (unfortunately only one day), enter coupon code HNY30% and receive 30% off your order. Enjoy!

Ice Queen

sweatshirt, boots - Urban Outfitters / skirt - Zara

Just a quick outfit post before I spend my first night in Atlanta. Yes, we are here safe and sound, and looks like I’ll be staying in Atlanta for a while. If I don’t post anymore before Christmas, I want to wish you all very, very Merry Christmas!! I hope this holiday time is blessed for you and you can spend it with your loved ones and just focus on things that really matter.

PS.

Beach - these were still taken in Elyria, OH, but obviously there are location changes happening for next posts :)

Dress - I actually have had these clothes for a while, but I had totally forgotten about them. And as it always happens when packing, I was very excited to rediscover this garments that I had actually never worn together, but suddenly it made perfect sense.

90’s inspired

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
sweater - 90’s Levi’s Dockers / skirt - American Apparel

Have you ever thought of any certain time period’s fashion as so ugly you would NEVER go back to it? Well, for me it was always the 90’s… I always thought it was hideous, and something totally not for me; however, time passes and things change. Now I think 90’s is so ugly it’s cool. I saw this Levi’s Dockers sweater and just couldn’t pass it. The big logo in the front of it once again seems so tacky yet awesome. Tomboyish grunge is just what I like.

And the most played EP on my playlist right now definitely is Nightlife by Phantogram. Here’s one of the tracks…

Pretty Holidays / Whishlist

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketturtleneck - H&M / skirt - ℅ felicee / boots - Jeffrey Campbell

I know, I fell of the face of the earth once again and didn’t post for a little longer than I wanted to. However, I am back and there is something I wanted to share with you. It is just a facebook status update that I posted a week ago. It was meant only for my facebook friends, but now I know I have to share it with everybody. "Ok so I’ve always thought that this was not the best way to share what’s going on in my life, and it isn’t, but I just cannot keep quiet right now! Last Sunday our pastor asked for people that had had a bad week in any way to stand up. I did as the week before last and even that Sunday morning I was feeling terrible, my body was acing all the time after the accident. Then the people that were around me prayed for me, and couple hours later (I was already at work) I realized I felt totally fine. I was renewed, feeling as healthy as I was before the accident. This is the most impressive testimony of healing in my life, and I just wanted to share it with everybody that prayed for me and those who might need encouragement! Thank you!! God is sooo good, ALWAYS.” Now you know :) If you have any questions or anything at all you would like to share on this topic you are very welcome to do that by commenting or on my formspring.

PS.

Beach - Same old. It’s getting so cold outside, I feel like I really sacrificed just to make these pictures look good. haha

Dress - Since it is holiday time, I decided to part (but just a little) from my minimalistic look and wear this pretty, girly skirt. And aren’t turtlenecks the new v-necks?!

And, you know, just in case Santa is reading, here is my Christmas wishlist from the uber chic online boutique UNESTABLISH.COM !

Love you, and happy weekend!

Beach - I’m thinking about location change more than ever… changes might come soon.

Dress - I’m very excited about getting out of my usual tight pants and still feel comfortable. Also, this outfit without boots costed me around $16 (hat was the most expensive). Love thrifting! Also, I’m wearing Maybelline Super Stay 24 Color and let me tell you - it doesn’t lie. The longest lasting lipstick ever!

Maxi dress - Urban Outfitters (also seen here)/ Sweater & Beanie - H&M / Leather Harness - DIY (here)

It’s so late already so I’ll just keep this short and sweet! I just wish it was warmer outside and I lived somewhere with a beautiful scenery so you didn’t have to look at this white wall for the rest of the winter… I’ll try to come up with something better. I promise.

Leather Harness / DIY

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
Top - ℅ Felicee / Leather Harness - DIY

Once again pretty self explanatory, but very exciting (at least for me) DIY. I’ve been lusting after a leather harness for a while now, and I knew there had to be a DIY option. It’s very easy, just connect two belts of the same width, wrap them around yourself and voi-la! I like to use the thick belts because I want to wear this over a knit sweater. What do you think?

Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! And enjoy your weekend!!

Minimalism & Gratefulness

Photobucket
PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
top - ℅ Felicee / biking shorts - old cut-off leggings / pumps - Urban Outfitters / bra - DIY / clear cuffs - DIY (seen here) / rings - Home Depot

With Thanksgiving rapidly approaching, this is the time when people think more about what they are thankful for. Unfortunately, some people often have trouble to think of a single thing to be grateful about. Here’s a little truth for those people to think about. Imagine you would want to to something nice for your friend. Nothing grandiose, just a small act of kindness. But after you have done it many times, you notice that your friend never appreciates it or says thank you. Would you want to give them something bigger and better? They probably wouldn’t even notice or be grateful anyway. So why would one think that it would be different with our lives? We have to appreciate the small things for bigger things to come our way.

“His master replied, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!” Matthew 25:23

PS.

Beach - still at home

Dress - I need to go somewhere where it’s warm to wear this outfit soon!!!

Collar Necklace / DIY

I feel that this DIY is pretty self explanatory - I cut the collar of a dress and sewed on black sequins and silver colored beads. One thing that you can’t see in the pictures - it took me forever! Well actually, you can even see that because the lighting for the first picture was very different from the ones when I’m half done. It took me so long that while doing this I saw three movies - Edward Scissorhands (Yes, I had never seen it before. Don’t judge me.), Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (enough time had passed too see it again), Exit Through the Gift Shop (good suggestion of a friend), and a Bizarre Foods episode (the one where he is in India).

I also wanted to share this brilliant, quite whimsical video (you probably already saw it if you follow me on twitter) of Miranda July's idiosyncratic solution to the interruptions of modern life - "A Handy Tip for the Easily Distracted."

PS. Chictopia Week of Giving - please favorite my entry to support Latvia’s Red Cross “Home Care” Program! (you can read more about it here) The most-favorited entry will earn a donation toward their selected charity equivalent to the total amount of qualifying entries to the contest (for example 1000 total entries means Chictopia donates $1000 to the winning charity!)
