I don’t think there is a lot of explanation needed on how to make this VPL inspired necklace. All you will need:

a wire

a hose

scissors

What do you think?

What’s going on in your life? I really want to hear more about my readers :)

Happy Weekend! / Fashion Film

British director Jonny Kight brings to you this little quirky fashion film staring Madalaine Hart. I just thought this would be such an appropriate start for the weekend. And I’ve been after a heather gray jersey skirt for a while so if you see one, please let me know! :) Styling by Hudson.

Much love, babes!!

monochrome / DIY

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
cropped denim shirt - vintage / cut-off leggings - old / visor - flea market / lipstick - Revlon (677 Siren)

I’m sure I’m not the only one that thinks that monochrome everything is awesome. As you can notice, the color of the buttons on my denim shirt in first two pictures is different than the last one. The last picture is what they looked like before I painted them with acrylic paint - they had ugly crystals on them, and actually what made it even worse that some had fallen off, but some were still on there. But that’s in the past now, the buttons have been painted, and this vintage shirt is ready to have second BETTER life. If you follow me on instagram or twitter you probably already saw that, yes, I have fallen for the visor trend inspired by McQueen. Now I’ll just have to get a mirror one.

Ciao, babes!!

get dressed with Bloggers Wardrobe

Images: 1. Oscar Magnuson 2. Gestuz 3. Finsk

Meet Bloggers Wardrobe, the first of it’s kind online community and designers' store where bloggers can shop completely free. Yes, I know this seems too good to be true, but this online heaven actually exists. The reason Bloggers Wardrobe is so noteworthy is not only the excellent selection of designers represented (some of my favorites - accessorize with some cool spectacles from Oscar Magnuson, get your outfit from Gestuz, label that represents the impeccable Scandinavian style, and, of course, an absolute necessity is the slightly futuristic yet classic Finsk shoes), but their truly anticipated manifesto - to help bloggers and designers connect without sacrificing either party’s independence and honesty. This is very important for me since I do not want to be influenced by masses but develop style that is minimalistic and conscious of my consumption, and hopefully inspiring for others as well.

excuses are well planned lies

PhotobucketPhotobucket
bomber jacket, silk tee, skirt, shoes - thrifted / gold ear cuff - ebay

Time to stop making excuses and make things happen because excuses are nothing else but “well planned lies” (Dani Johnson) And when you think about it, don’t you agree? At the end of the day that is the truth. A little motivational bit for myself, and hopefully for someone else as well.

Love you babes!

take control

cardigan, sheer tee - American Apparel / cracked denim - Forever21+DIY / shoes - BCBG (thrifted) / choker - H&M / ear cuff - ebay

*gave my ugly jeans from Forever 21 second BETTER life by painting them with acrylic paint (original DIY project on Love Aesthetics)

*gave my AA sheer v-neck second life by wearing it backwards because I’m over v-necks

*accidentally gave my AA cardigan second life by shrinking it in the dryer

Feels like a successful outfit for somebody that is determined to be a conscious consumer.

much love, babes!

Almost Copycat / Beauty

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
turtleneck, choker - H&M / rings - hardware store

Even though I remember wanting to become a makeup artist when I was little, ever since I started my blog, I never thought I’d have a “beauty” post on here. The reason is simple, I use very little makeup, and you all can probably teach me something, not the other way around. However, the other day I came across Janelle Okwodu’s blog Sans Artifice and instantly became more interested in beauty again. Janelle’s blog is unique because she writes about beauty, but she doesn’t forget to “give it a fashion spin”. The most inspiring for me are the amazing backstage shots on her blog, that are also the culprit of this post. Ports 1961 used a very minimalistic and “undone” look for their show, and Janelle’s presentation of it inspired me to recreate the look. Obviously it’s not exactly the same, and I didn’t use any mascara to give the look even more rawness.

Hope you like it! What are your favorite makeup routines or ideas?

Get Back, Stay Back! / Film Night

Fashion blogs and fashion in general often tend to be very superficial. As for the most part fashion is about our appearance, it’s not very hard for fashion enthusiasts to become self centered and shallow (I always have to keep myself in check), but this video is like a breath of fresh air. The author of fashion film series “Get Back, Stay Back!” Nick Knight states,"Women should have the right to wear whatever they want, whenever they want, without fear of being attacked. The purpose of these fashion films is to help give women the ability to defend themselves wherever necessary. I’ve always argued fashion has a larger voice, rather than just reflecting beauty, it also assumes a political stance. Get Back, Stay Back! is a very important piece and will show that fashion has a central role in our society. If this story could save one woman from being raped or attacked, it will have served its purpose.”  For other shorts from these series go to Get Back, Stay Back page.

And what made me even more excited about this video is that a while ago I did a more casual DIY version of the Givenchy skirt. Do you remember?

it is what it is

choker necklace memory wire - beadaholique / shoes - BCBG (thrifted)

When I first started blogging , I definitely did not know what I was doing. Not that I am an expert now, but you know what I mean. All I had was my passion for fashion and traveling, and I wanted to share. Then along the way, I was looking at other blogs and trying to run after all the trends because it seemed like that was the big thing. At some point I lost myself because everybody had to look the same or you’re not “the cool kid on the block”. A year later I have realized that this is not what it’s all about. For me fashion and style has to be something beautifully timeless and sustainable, and that is what I’m sharing. Thanks so much to all my readers for your support, and I just want to encourage the ones that are just starting out in blogging to be who you are. It may sound cheesy, but that is the truth. Your blog will bring you a true satisfaction only if you stick to your taste and convictions. And hopefully there will be some people on the great webs that share the same values :)

Love you, babes!

PS.

The Fashion Week craze is not over yet. If you would like to see some of my favorites, I’m pinning them all on pinterest.
